Since the opening of the Highbridge trails in May 2007, we’ve had a few major projects on the “to-do” list that we’ve meant to tackle but just hadn’t found the time or the manpower to accomplish. This past weekend Bill Cullen and I headed out to the Rothrock Forest and Raystown Lake, PA, to sample two very different styles of riding on some killer Pennsylvania trails. We headed out of midtown at 5 pm through some nasty Lincoln Tunnel traffic, but once past the tunnel it was surprisingly light. Stopped for dinner at the Barley Creek Brewery out next to Camelback, PA, then hit the road again and pulled up to our campsite at the Penn Roosevelt State Park in the middle of Rothrock State Forest …

After years of hustling and fighting the good fight, longtime MTB advocate and former NYC IMBA rep Matt Lebow finally got the go-ahead to open the trails of Wolfe’s Pond Park to mountain biking. Now he and a crew of dedicated volunteers are re-building the long-standing but not-previously-legal dirt jumps in the southwest corner of the park.
