NYC Velo 2015 Fall Adventure Series

19 October 2015 No Comment

Fall is here and our go-to shop NYC Velo has pinned down the dates for the fall adventure rides. Sure, we’re a mountain bike club and these are road rides, but they’re not your average road rides. If we see a repeat of last year you could be in for some bush-whacking, wading and hiking. Brett’s Revenge, the second ride this year, proved to be particularly challenging, even for the few cyclists who brought mountain bikes. All rides were cold, 3 out of 4 ended in the dark and we encountered both rain and snow. Challenge accepted?

Saturday 10/31 – New this year, the NYC Velo/Rockstar Games Racing Team Women’s Halloween Ride – the course has been developed by Rockstar’s own Lucia D and will depart from NYC Velo’s Gotham West Market location in Hell’s Kitchen. While the ride is directed towards women, men are welcome to ride as well!

Saturday 11/7 — Brett’s Revenge: Catskills – we will again be tackling the “Powerline” course that runs through the foothills of the Catskill mountains.  This course has proven to be particularly challenging and the use of a cyclocross or mountain bike and shoes intended for walking/hiking is necessary (leave your road gear at home!).

Saturday 12/5 — Taconic 150 – we’re developing a new course for the 9th edition of the Taconic 150 — last June’s version was a wild success that we hope to repeat!

Saturday 12/19 — The Polar Express — riders should expect a challenging course very similar to last spring’s La Dent du Lion.

Saturday 1/9 — Extra Credit (Catskills Offroad) — stay tuned!
