Trifecta-flyer-2016

Dirt Lovers,

Saturday, June 18 is almost here. That means we are getting closer to the 2016 edition of the Westchester Trifecta. This is that one day a year (ok, one of the days) when we try to serve up a bigger challenge than the usual weekend warrior stuff. It goes something like this:

We’ll take the first train from Grand Central to Cold Spring and ride our bikes back to the city, but not the shortest or easiest way, that would be lame- we will hit up a good portion of the single track at Blue Mountain, Graham Hills and Sprain Ridge Park on the way. In total we’re looking at almost 100 miles of gravel, pavement, dirt and single track.

If your goal is to do the whole ride, and your ID doesn’t say Vittorio Brumotti, bring a mountain bike… bring tubes, bring parts, and bring tools to fix whatever you think might break this day. There will be one food stop and 3-4 additional quick fill stops but this is a self-supported ride and we need to keep moving to make it back before sunset. That said, bring your lights too.

We welcome anyone to come for the whole ride or just a portion of it. No matter what, it’s going to be a long and fun day. We are never that far from a train station so there are numerous places to bail out or jump on along the route should your fitness or schedule call for it. Speaking of fitness…this is not a race, nor is it a beginner’s ride- we will do our best to keep a pace where the faster riders don’t get bored and the not as fast riders don’t get dropped. It’s a group ride after all.

If everything goes well and the thirst is strong we’ll celebrate with a pint of beer at the Cannibal, West Gotham Market, before the sun is setting.

But what if it rains? Well, that would suck, wouldn’t it. Especially since there’s no rain date for this ride. Only safety concerns will cancel this ride.

The course can be found below and all participants are encouraged to download it to their GPS- devices.
