#1 Sunday, October 9 – Stillwell, Long Island
Meeting Spot: S Woods Rd, Syosset, NY
The Route: 12 miles (two laps) of no-drop. Cross friendly
#2 Sunday, October 23– Skyline/Ringwood, NJ
Meet: 8:00 AM Trailhead at 186 Skyline Drive, Oakland NJ
The Route: This is no beginner’s loop, multiple flats and snapped derailleurs are common. As are endos, scratches and sulking. The adventure starts and ends at the top of Skyline Drive, it is made up of some nice flowy singletrack, a few short dirt roads and a bunch of gnarly, rocky trails.
Distance: +20 miles
#3 Sunday, November 13 – Blue Mountain, Peekskill
Meet: 8:30 AM, Back Parking lot at Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill, Westchester
The Route: Mostly singletrack. Some flow, some tech stuff, but all rideable for intermediate riders. We will ride at an easier pace and staying as a group for the first half (9 miles), after we pass the parking for a quick refill and/or drop off riders we’ll pick up the pace for the second half.
Distance: ~18 miles
#4 Friday, November 25 – Sprain Ridge Park
Only fools get trampled at the mall on Black Friday. Cool guys and girls ride their bikes. Today we’re joining forces with NYC Velo for a ride up to Sprain Ridge Park.
Meet: 9AM at NYC Velo in Hell’s Kitchen. Come early for great coffee at the Blue Bottle Cafe
The Route: City streets, the High Bridge and bike paths up to Sprain Ridge Park where we ride some fun and technical single track. Then off to Hastings-on-Hudson for a snack before making it back to Manhattan via the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail and Van Cortlandt Park.
Total mileage around 55 miles, or meet in the parking lot at Sprain for singletrack only. Estimated arrival 10:30AM at Sprain Ridge parking lot.
#6 Sunday, December 4 – Old Croton Aqueduct Trail – NYC
Meet: 7:43 AM train from Grand central Station arriving Croton-Harmon 8:35 AM. Ride starts at 8:45
The Route: Except for the first 10 miles, where more than half the day’s climbing is done, this is a flat course. After riding to the Croton Reservoir Dam we will climb over Bald Mountain for 3-4 miles of single track. Cross bike friendly.
Midway stop at Antoinette’s Patisserie in Hastings-on-Hudson. Plenty of chances to stop for water along the way.
Distance: ~50 miles to Midtown Manhattan (30 Dirt , 20 Pavement). Riding time expected to 4hrs not including coffee stop.
