Old Croton Aqueduct Trail – NYC, Dec 4

25 November 2016 No Comment

On Sunday, December 4, it’s time again to ride the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail.

Meet: 7:43 AM train from Grand Central Station arriving Croton-Harmon Station 8:35 AM. Ride starts at 8:45. Bike pass required.

The Route: Climb up to the Croton Reservoir Dam followed by cresting Bald Mountain via a few miles of singletrack. This is a flat day and more than half of the day’s 2,500 feet of climbing is done in the first 10 miles, after that is semi smooth riding all the way back to Manhattan. This is a cross bike friendly ride.

Midway stop for some caffeine at Antoinette’s Patisserie in Hastings-on-Hudson. Plenty of chances to replenish water supply along the way.

Distance: ~50 miles to Midtown Manhattan (30 dirt, 20 paved). Riding time expected to 4hrs not including coffee stop.
