Westchester Trifecta 2018
Dirt Lovers,

Saturday, June 16 and the Westchester Trifecta is just around the corner. This year we’re changing things up a little by cropping out the gravel section between Cold Spring and Peekskill. It will still be a legit trifecta, meaning a long day with three trails and a bunch of crazy stuff in between. In total we’re looking at roughly 80 miles of gravel, pavement, dirt and single track.

The plan:

We’re taking the first train from Grand Central to Peekskill and ride back to the city. On the way back we hit the trails at Blue Mountain, Graham Hills and Sprain Ridge Park.

If your goal is to do the whole ride, bring a mountain bike. It is NOT cross, road or hybrid friendly for 99.9% of cyclists. Also, bring tubes, bring parts, and bring tools to fix whatever you think might break this day. There will be one food stop and 3-4 additional quick fill stops but this is a self-supported ride and we need to keep moving to make it back before sunset. That said, bring your lights too.

We welcome anyone to come for the whole ride or just a portion of it. No matter what, it’s going to be a long and “fun” day. We are never far from a Metro North train station so there are numerous places to bail out or jump on along the route should your fitness or schedule call for it. Speaking of fitness…this is not a race, nor is it a beginner’s ride, we will do our best to keep a pace where the faster riders don’t get bored and the not as fast riders don’t get dropped. It’s a group ride where we want as many starters as possible to finish.

With the new shorter course we should definitely reach Manhattan in time to enjoy a celebratory drink or two before sunset.

But what if it rains? Well, that would suck, wouldn’t it? Especially since there’s no rain date for this ride. Only safety concerns will cancel this ride.

The course can be found below and are encouraged to download it to their GPS- devices.
